Sustainability

City Point is a mixed use development located at the center of Downtown Brooklyn. Directly adjacent to Willoughby Square Park, Albee Square, and the historic 1908 Dime Savings Bank, this project ties together Downtown Brooklyn’s grand past with its thriving future. Utilizing landscaped roof areas, a high-performance building envelope, filtered fresh air, and storm water collection and reuse, the project boasts conscientious design features that contribute to its LEED Silver Certification and reify it’s standing as an exemplar of iconically sustainable multi-use urban development.

Drawing inspiration from both the surrounding urban context and the natural environment, the design of the street wall is influenced by the hard-edged, gritty character of the Brooklyn waterfront, the nearby historic buildings, and forms found in nature. The residential tower is clad in custom profile, thermally broken, aluminum curtain wall units. The units include high-performance insulated glass units, custom-glazed terra cotta tiles in “City Point White”, operable vents, or a combination of all three. Adjacent to the sixth floor amenity terrace, an interior basketball court is enclosed with vision glass applied with a unique ceramic frit pattern to cut down on glare while allowing for a level of transparency to the public areas.

Heintges provided building envelope and curtain wall consulting services during all phases of design and construction, including NYC Special Inspections.
